The layout represents a fictitious section of the former Great Central Railway’s London Extension route to Marylebone, in modern times. Sited on the outskirts of London and outside of the North London Line, the station is a passing point for passenger and freight services, in and out of London. The station is classic Great Central, with it’s disused goods yard now taken over by the adjacent rail connected metal fabrication factory, with its rail enthusiast owner. Thus stabled here, are either the wagons serving his factory, which boosts its own shunting locomotive, or visiting preserved steam locomotives as these prepare for a rail tour. This area also provides a home for some preservation projects. On the main line you will see a range of modern passenger and freight services, with a slight splashing from the corporate blue era, plus preserved steam on rail tours. Stock is currently ready-to-run, with detailing and weathering undertaken as time permits. The layout has been built to introduce the young member of the team to the building and operating of an exhibition layout, hence one of the fiddle yards is hidden by a park area. Buildings are a mixture of the excellent ready made models now available, kit built, modified kits or scratch built. The layout is operated via DCC, with points and signal via conventional methods.
